Six courses across visual communication and industrial craft design at Thammasat University Lampang — taught so that what a student learns survives the next version of the software.

01 — Textbook

Contemporary
Communication Design

ตำรา “ออกแบบนิเทศศิลป์ร่วมสมัย”

A ten-chapter Thai-language textbook written to serve the whole visual communication course group — and to close the gap between what international design literature says and what a designer in Lampang actually has to do.

Every chapter carries the same three moves: a comparison of Thai and international practice, an original design lens model synthesised for that chapter, and a case drawn from the author’s own built work rather than from a stock library.

The manuscript is structurally complete — ten chapters, front and back matter, a consolidated bibliography, a bilingual glossary of roughly seventy-eight terms, and a two-part index — and is being laid out for publication.

03 — Approach

Three commitments

Do the real thing

The seminar course is taught by running an actual seminar: students write the proposal, set the budget, book the room, run the day and evaluate it. The assessment is the event.

Teach what transfers

Software courses teach layers, masks and non-destructive workflow as concepts before any application-specific technique — which also lowers the cost of entry for students without a licence at home.

Show the working

Every case study in the teaching material carries its design brief: objective, origin of the image, colour, type and composition decisions, theory used, audience, and medium.

04 — Supervision

Postgraduate advising

Master’s thesis supervision in design, with each project steered toward a publishable output as well as a completed thesis. Topics span craft enterprise, textile design and design education.
